Ag Officials Look Into Dead Cattle Hauling
State agricultural officials say a cattle owner who drove an open truck and trailer filled with dead calves through Twin Falls earlier this month didn't fully understand the rules he broke.
State Veterinarian Bill Barton says rules governing the transportation of dead animals require that they be concealed from public view and that the vehicles not allow any fluids to escape.
A report about the driver will be submitted to the Idaho State Department of Agriculture office, which will determine if the rancher should be cited or fined, The Times-News reported.
Barton says the rancher has promised not to repeat his mistake.
The state was able to identify the driver through photographs submitted with a complaint and by checking with a rendering plant.
